Don’t Find The Kitty
I was going through a tutorial on PlayBASIC, making fun little programs to practice what I was learning, when one caught my attention. It was a simple program that printed out a bunch of random ASCII characters in random colors. From there, it just kept getting bigger and bigger…
So I’m proud to announce and release my first-ever fully coded indie game!
I know it isn’t much at all, but it was fun to make, and I learned a whole hell of a lot during the process. It’s based on a game I played a long time ago, with my own little swing to the theme. The name is Don’t Find The Kitty, and the premise is to not find the kitty. After each game, it will save a text file in the folder listing your playthrough. This file will be overwritten each time, so if you want to save it for some reason, just rename it or pull it from the folder.
Part of DFTK relies on animal names and adjectives. I realize I need many, many more to get a good output, but it works just fine right now. If you want to add your own adjectives and animals to the game, I’d love to oblige. Just email me a list or reply to this post if you feel the urge.
Development time: About 7 weeknights, maybe 1 1/2 to 2 hours per night

I’ll leave this post with my latest capture file.

Hey, is there any way you could send me an archive or tarbell of the source?
I’d love to hack around with this.

I could, but PlayBASIC isn’t cross platform yo. But it’s simple enough to read and migrate, maybe?
